Day 85: This feels a lot like a rerun1 min read

Today’s inane image of the day:

The wall of Starbucks that I tend to stare at when I’m sick of staring at my lecture notes. I never realized how calming the act of looking at this wall was until after I snapped this photo.

There’s not much more I need to say aside from I’m disappointed. There’s no one to blame except myself and there’s nowhere to go except forward. I could shower you with really optimistic quotes about learning from one’s mistakes or something like that, but I just don’t have the energy.

Do not despair — I am not giving up.

Today’s medical school fact of the day: Medical school is difficult [ha! as if you didn’t already figure that one out!].

P.S. Thank you dedicated commenters! You really help keep me going.

[Edit: If you ever find a typo/spelling error, please let me know! Those drive me nuts…]

Yikes, terrible typo in my first attempt to comment… Moving on:

You can do it! Your school’s vote of confidence in accepting you was well-deserved because you CAN do this! You’ve got this. Keep it up, Eleven!

=( This makes me sad to hear. Make sure you really reach out to your faculty. Use all of the resources ouwb has to offer.

We have at least 1 exam every week. It keeps us on top of the material, but I feel like I never have a break. Yesterday I barely passed our genetics exam, which is the worst I have performed on an exam to date. I’ve been having trouble focusing… did I mention that my boyfriend broke up with me last week? Long distance and medical school are not a great combination…

I know I have to keep plugging away at the material, but I’m feeling discouraged about life right now.

@Justin: Typos happen to the best of us! And I appreciate your support. By the way… congrats on your acceptance! =)

@Anon: And it’s always good to be reminded of that. Thank you.

@Christine: You [and I] WILL GET THROUGH THIS. Things are tough, but these are the exact moments that we will look back upon and realize how much strength we gained from the experience. Especially with how every day seems mundane and starts to blend together in medical school, it’s hard to keep your head up — but, remember to have faith in yourself… you got where you are with good reason and you will make it to the other end. If you ever want to vent or rant or just keep a dialogue running, please feel free to email me [amanda@amandaxi.com] — I would also appreciate another person to send my thoughts to.

On another note, sometimes I wonder if it would be better to have exams more often, but I do feel that this gives us the chance to train ourselves to keep up with the material on our own [although it has been hard, this is good training for when we need to buckle down and study for the boards].

Keep your head up — things will get better. =)
