A view of the Grand Canyon [from my road trip] — isn’t it breathtaking? |
Month: September 2011
Day 45: Happenings around OUWB, coaching and constructive criticism
Day 43: The intersection of patient interaction and technology
Today’s inane image of the day:
Another image from my last trip to South Haven, MI — you’ll notice that on gloomy, rainy days, I just want to look at photos of beautiful, calming landscapes. |
If you have ~20 minutes, please spend them watching Dr. Abraham Verghese’s Ted Talk — he’s an extraordinary speaker and the subject of his talk [human touch and the return to one-on-one physical examination] is extremely relevant to everyone [since all of us are patients ourselves!].
Day 42: Putting things into perspective
Day 38: Social sharing and the never-ending to do list
Today’s inane image of the day:
I grabbed a study room early this morning to be greeted by the writing on the wall [yes, the whole wall is a whiteboard!] — oh… I’m so behind… |
First and foremost, I just learned a new phrase: social sharing. What, you ask, does that mean and how does it concern me? Well… if you have a couple of minutes [which, you should since you’re reading my blog], check out the [quick, and educational, I promise] game, SPENT.
Day 36: Little surprises brighten a gloomy day
Today’s [second] inane image of the day:
A beautiful piece of jewelry from Edor to brighten my evening. |
When I walked outside this morning, the sky seemed as lost in itself as I was in my thoughts. Throughout the day, the rain and cold wind didn’t help my mood. But I got through the day and was greeted by this tiny little box when I got home.
Day 36: Watching the days slip by
Today’s inane image of the day:
This was taken during my last visit to South Haven, MI during Memorial Day weekend — I really needed something peaceful to look at this morning, so I thought this was fitting. |
It just occurred to me this morning that six years ago, today’s date was an important one to me. The date was one that I grew excited and nervous about. But this year, it came out of nowhere — I woke up, ready to crack open the books for some early morning studying, perused my favorite blogs and caught up on Facebook. Upon opening the page, the date finally sunk in.
Day 35: Making progress
Today’s inane image of the day:
Ahhh! There are various strains of gram positive bacteria on my kitchen counter! …oh, wait, I put those there… |
By putting post-it notes of the various bacterial strains that I need to know a little too much about [well, actually, I’m glad I know all of this now so that I can stop eating and touching anything since it is all COVERED WITH MICROBES!], I am not really accomplishing much… except maybe reminding myself that this surface has probably come in contact with many of the microbes that I’m currently learning about. I think it’s time to pull out those Lysol disinfectant wipes for the 100th time today…
Day 34: What’s your type?
Day 31: AMWA merchandise, recovery and moving forward
Because I am a huge fan of shameless plugs, I thought I’d show you guys the awesome t-shirts that the AMWA branch at OUWB has available for purchase:
